I'm greatly saddened by the news of the death of Soong May-ling last night. Since the release of the movie The Soong Sisters in 1997, I've been facinated with the legency of the three sisters. I would read up all about them in the library, papers or on websites - I even have the articule of her last public appearance a few years back.
Actually the Soong that I admired and idolised is her sister, Soong Ching-ling. I followed closely to news about May-ling because she's the only one who's still alive. Ching-ling passed away in 1981.
May-ling was the only living statement of the Soong legency - I've been wanting to visit her in New York in order to have my doubts cleared - Why did she marry Chiang Kai Shek despite objections from Ching-Ling? Who really lost China? How was Ching-ling like as a sister? Why did she not attend Ching-Ling's furneral?
I must say that she had lived long enough to witness the turbulent 20th century and the Soong Sisters were clearly women ahead of their times..
*Rest in peace May-ling..
I'll be seeing my little dARlings in a while, pretty tired cos I slept late last night. Well it's the same old things again! Assignments piling and piling!
Not feeling too good today.
