*mug-fest*
Being the ever diligent student, I was revising for my exams, just happened to chance upon the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the Americans in a bid to end the Pacific War.
It read "President (Harry) Truman reached the final decision to drop the bomb with relatively little hesitation", "some senior military leaders expressed the view that the bomb might not have been necessary to end the war, but at the time none of the President's closest advisors counseled against it"..
It has always been the case that a few man, supposingly the most brilliant amongst the other counterparts, make such decisions that affect the lives of several millions. And most of the time, they make dumb decisions. Look at what's happening to the Iraq War now and all that debate about Richard Clarke.
What has the world become?
I think US is not the hegemonic force, the US Presidents and his advisors are the ones.
Did we grow up wanting to be the President? (Of course not the SG President!)
