I went for a trip to Pulau Ubin (another island near sg, just like Sentosa) with my fellow committee members on monday and spent a night there. There were roughly over 40 of us!
Well I must say that I was at first not keen at all to go for such adventure camp because all I could think of were the mosquitoes and the insects. In the end I tried to convince myself to go cos it was meant to be a team bonding session and as one of the main members in the comm, I felt obligated to participate.
Anyway I was well equipped with insect repellent, mosquito patches and herbal candle (compliments from my dad). Our campsite was an excruciating 45-minute walk from the jetty and it was in the forested area, just next to the "beach". The site is beautiful and it resembles the house in the Korean movie il-mare, where you can actually play soccer in the "sea" when it's low tide.
The games were great, and most significantly, I befriended a very thoughtful and respectable person because he was my partner for the nightwalk. I was very grateful and impressed with the way he handled his fears and mine. I guessed it's probably moments like this that brings out either the best or the worst of an individual. I'm fully convinced that it's indeed "a walk to remember" (the title of this part of the program). For that, he gets to be my new-found best friend for "two weeks"! Ha~
We slept under the stars cos it was too hot to sleep in the tents and there were wild dogs barking ferociously throughout the night so it was quite intimidating, not to mention about the possibility of being "attacked" by the swarms of insects!
I took lots of pictures, which I would probably upload in my webshot account. Would be posting the site here when it's more appropriate. I'm still concerned about the issue of privacy in the WWW. Or maybe too overly concerned.
Oh and yah, I always learnt about how precious water is! There wasn't any water or electricity from the evening onwards, so we had to rely on the limited supply that we've brought along. Of course that meant no shower, no washing of hands whenever I want to and no flushing! It was indeed very agonishing and I suffered from a diarrhoea the night after I came back because I ate with dirty fingers.
I think we should all take such trips once a while. After all, when is the last time you did something for the first time?
