I was in disbelief when I saw my grades for my presentation and mini-group proj for IT1003 (Information Systems Applications). My group was awarded band III (bottom 30%) for the two assignments.
What the hell.
I mean it was obvious that we were better than other groups. I mean my tutor can be strict with our gradings but I seriously do not think that we deserve to be in the bottom group. We put in so much effort for the proj and many of my friends were telling me that ours is quite good.
So what went wrong?
We did everything he told us to. We interviewed personnel from MNCs and even had a word-for-word detailed transcript. It was really quality work!
I think over the last three years I really lost faith in the NUS system. Everything that you ever achieve is subjected to relativity. You can score a 90% but if the rest of your class managed a perfect score, that's it. Your final grade would be a B or even a C. Can you believe that you allow your own life to be affected by that few alphabets? They wouldn't even mean a thing when you look back 10 years down the road. The grades DO NOT reflect our true capability. It just shows that you are capable of taking exams.
