Bangkok once more
Operation Burger King: Maximum damage done, enemy eliminated.

I was at Bangkok from 19th to 22nd Feb. Its been 5 months since I was left the Bangkok soil and I didn't realised how much I missed it till I got there. Most notably, I am proud of myself for being able to navigate my way around quite successfully, despite the fact that it was only my second time there.

The highlight of the trip was going down to the Bed Supperclub. Its one of the best club I've ever been to in my lifetime so far and can easily beat most clubs in SG hands downs (yes, even my all time fav zouk). The architecture of the building is amazing and the interior decor is superb. In short, I was damn impressed and astounded. It was Gay night when we were there and the drag queen show was so entertaining! Please do check that place out! You don't know what you're missing out!

Overall, the trip was satisfactory, with me coming home with two big luggages and one hand-carried bag (went there with one half filled luggage). There were several hiccups along the way, and the very fact that we were off to a bumpy start - our hotel booking screwed up at the eleventh hour did dampened our spirits but once we got settled down, we were ready to charge forward.

I guessed from the start, we should have specifically sat down to discuss our expectations and budget explicitly. Most of us went for the vacation with a very different agenda in mind. So in the end all these differences surfaced during the trip and things became a little unpleasant at various point of the trip.

Not that I definitely want every meal to be settled at the most expensive restaurant (its damn cheap to dine at restaurants there - average of $8) or to stay at the best hotel or even to shop only at the high-end shopping malls. Just that sometimes I can't understand why we should save on that few dollars and put ourselves at risk of possible food-poisioning or diarrhoea.

I do acknowledge that everyone had different budgets for the trip and we are all trying to stick to that, but I feel that when we go for overseas trip, its best to bring along some spare cash or a credit cash, in case of emergencies - in our case was the hotel screw up that set us back by quite a bit of Thai baht. Even if your budget is really really really tight, you never know what's going to happen during the trip and you can't expect anyone to fork out money for you cos you should be an independent adult.

But well, I had my fun with these girls during the entire trip. Many precious lessons learnt along the way. Now that I'm back, I fret about not buying more. Haha. Actually contrary to common belief, I only ended up spending roughly a bit more than SGD500 and I bought back so much more than the last time. Lets just say I wouldn't need to go shopping for a good few months! The same things would have cost double the price in SG. So why pay more? On top of that, this time round I was less stressed up about getting presents for everyone and managed to concentrate on pampering myself. So well, don't expect gifts from me okie. Haha.

Only regrets for this trip is not going to the restaurant across the Chao Praya River and the Food Loft. I wish I had eaten more of the tom yum too. The best meal I had was with xx at Silk Bar at Khao San. And it only cost approximately $15 in total - three main dishes, two rice and one drink.

Okay I'm beat. Had project meeting first thing early this morning followed by some expedition bonding session. Tomorrow I'll be up early for some activities again, then followed by another project meeting. The term break will come to an end tomorrow!

So well, Happy Lunar New Year! Hope that come next year this period, I'll be looking at the moon from the other side of the world!

Good night!
