It's officially 10 years since I graduated from TKGS! How time flies! I can still remember that panic attack when I got lost in the school compound on my first day of school.
So yup, as you would have guessed, there will be an upcoming class reunion. Come 12 Dec (of cos I'm more excited abt Zouk Out), the class of 1999 will gather back at the school. We will be 16 once again.
I've been receiving updates from the event via FB (greatest tool in staying connected, staying in touch) and the sign off was by this girl 'xxxxx, Organising Committee'. Coincidentally, she used to be a prefect during our TKGS days.
So yup. It sure feels like 16 again - prefects vs the masses, organising committee vs attendees.. (Sidenote: The prefects had a different set of uniforms! N as u would have guessed, I wasn't in the top class.)
Is there a need to differentiate oursevles? We are already 26 years old n surely would not need to be stuck in the past. I hope I didn't come across as being too bitchy abt this - nothing against her personally, but her action (Probably unintentioan) really reminded me of the different camps back in school. That kind of dampened my spirits.
Anyway so back to 10 years since my graduation. 10 years since my 16th birthday. It sure does not feel that long. Alright it's sinking in - I'm so old now.
Those 4 years spent in TKGS were one of the best years in my life - the manifestation of youth, innocence, empowerment n drive.. Fond memories that I hold onto dearly..
Most of my dear friends today are the very ones whom I've befriended in my green uniform more than a decade again. (And boy, it didn't strike me that I'm old enough to use the D word.)
Here's the list of my best memories in TKGS (no particular order):
1) Being in the Track team.
2) The void deck facing the field, behind class 1.1
3) The teachers: Mr. Adrian Lim, Mdm. Hassan, Ms. Zhou (HCL), Ms. Chan
4) The coach: Mr. Charles Timothy D'Cruz
5) The nasi briyani (we had to race to the canteen to queue)
6) Sports Day - the dancing, racing n cheering in my class T-shirt
7) The darling friends, my dear princesses
Ok that sounds like almost everything - except the lessons! I was definitely a rebel.
But really, 10 years on and I only remember the good things - the only things that worth remembering..
What a great way to start the day :)
